Annie’s DIY Wall-Art Frames!

annie DIYHey!

I’m Annie, I am from the Philippines but living in Greece. Today I want to share some of my creative and easy-to-make DIY Projects: My Fabric Wall-Art frames!

I love to make all kinds of DIY projects. I decided to start my own DYI projects when I realized that I could turn scrap materials or other things that people ready throw in the trash into beautiful artwork that, as they say in my country, “it’s like candy to the eyes”.

I am always on the look out to decorate every corner of my house, and these DIY Wall-Art is a great decoration for empty walls!

Here’s what we do:

  • Gather up the supplies that we need:
  1. annie supplies4 pcs of wooden boards to use as frames; Mine are from the box that supermarket get their tin cans in, They give them out for free!
  2. Old Pillow Case Sheets
  3. Scissors
  4. Staple Gun
  5. Glue sticks and Glue Gun
  6. Acrylic Paint and Brushes
  7. Pop top from Cola or Soda Cans

Next, we do the Frame:annie step 2

  •  Take the Pillow Cover or any Plain Fabric cloth you have lying around, make sure you choose the color what you like!
  • Get your wooden frame, measure your cloth and cut t four pieces to cover 4 t wooden frames. You should cut your fabric to a size bigger than your frame because You’ll need enough fabric to wrap around to the back.
  • Position your fabric in the frame, checking all sides to see that the cloth lines up well.
  • Now, use the staple gun to tack the fabric down to the frame. First I stapled one of the long edges, then I Annie step 3-4did the opposite side. Make sure to Pull it tight. Then do the short sides, one at a time.
  • Trim off any extra fabric that hangs past the inner edge of the frame.
  • To finish the corners, tuck in the extra fabric as if you’re wrapping a present and then staple it down! Its doesn’t matter how you do it in the back really, as long as it looks tidy and neat in the front. Now your done on the frame!

annie pop topNext we’ll use the pop top from a cola or soda can:

  • We use this pop top as a hanging pin at the back of your frame.
  • Measure it to see if its in the center and glue it using your hot glue gun.

Now you are ready to paint the fabric!

  • Did you notice those green paint marks on the back of the frame in the pictures above?? Well, before I start to paint I sample on the excess cloth at the back of the frame the different colors I want to use!
  • annie paintChoose any theme you want ! I love Nature, So I decided to paint Olives branches and leaves.
  • Leave to dry before hanging!
